Look Back in Anger
Drama98 min
In an industrial Midlands town, Richard Burton is Jimmy, a university graduate stuck running a market stall and nursing a bitter grudge against the middle-class world around him. Claire Bloom’s Alison, his upper-middle-class wife, bears the brunt of that anger as their marriage strains under class resentment, money trouble, and Jimmy’s restless frustration. When one of Alison’s friends moves into the flat, the tense arrangement sharpens into a love triangle, with their amiable lodger caught in the middle. The film keeps its focus close: cramped rooms, raw arguments, and postwar British class divisions pressing in on every relationship.
