Albert Nobbs

DramaRomance113 min

Albert Nobbs has spent years passing as a man so she can keep her job as a butler in one of Dublin’s grand hotels. Glenn Close is Albert, moving through late 19th-century Ireland with careful routines and almost no room for error in a society where women are given little independence. Inside the formal dining rooms and cramped back corridors of the hotel, Albert has built a life around secrecy and survival. When she meets a handsome painter and begins to imagine a future beyond the role she has maintained for decades, that hard-won arrangement starts to shift.
