Belle

DramaRomance105 min

Raised in 18th-century England as the mixed-race daughter of a Royal Navy captain, Dido Belle grows up in the household of her aristocratic great-uncle, Lord Mansfield. She is given comfort, education, and a place in the family, yet her status remains uncertain: too high to dine with the servants, but never fully accepted as an equal in society. As marriage prospects and inheritance questions close in, Dido begins to see how rank and race shape every choice around her. Her bond with an ambitious young lawyer pushes her toward a legal case before Mansfield that could affect the slave trade itself. Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Tom Wilkinson anchor the story.
