After inheriting the Cleveland Indians, Rachel Phelps quietly stocks the roster with long shots and headaches, figuring a losing season will give her the excuse to move the team to a warmer city. What she gets instead is a clubhouse full of mismatched personalities who decide they’re not interested in being anyone’s failure. Tom Berenger and Charlie Sheen are among the ballplayers trying to turn the season around, with Corbin Bernsen adding more ego to the lineup. Between front-office sabotage, dugout friction, and Cleveland fans watching every collapse and comeback, the movie builds its comedy around a team nobody expects to matter.
