Dr. Bhaskar Bannerjee is worn down by the suffering and poverty he sees every day, until a new patient changes the rhythm of his life. Amitabh Bachchan’s Bhaskar is assigned to Anand, a man with cancer who knows his time is short; Rajesh Khanna gives him an expansive, talkative presence that pushes against the gloom of hospital wards and daily routine. As doctor and patient grow close, the film centers on their friendship, Bhaskar’s shifting outlook, and Anand’s determination to spend his remaining days in company, conversation, and motion rather than despair.
