Eight-year-old Ishaan Awasthi sees the world in colors, animals, and drifting kites, but his teachers and parents only see missed homework and bad marks. Darsheel Safary is Ishaan, an imaginative child whose struggles in the classroom lead to a boarding school meant to discipline him. There, a new art teacher, Ram Shankar Nikumbh (Aamir Khan), notices that Ishaan's failures may have less to do with effort than with how he reads and learns. The film stays close to a child's inner world, where drawings, daydreams, and small humiliations sit alongside the pressure of school and family expectations.
