The Karate Kid
ActionAdventureDramaFamily127 min
After moving from New Jersey to Los Angeles with his mother, teenager Daniel LaRusso is singled out by a group of karate-trained bullies led by Johnny, the ex-boyfriend of Ali, the girl he’s started seeing. Ralph Macchio is Daniel, a new kid trying to find his footing, while Pat Morita’s Mr. Miyagi begins as the unassuming apartment handyman who turns out to be a skilled martial arts teacher. As Daniel learns a more disciplined, defensive approach to karate, he’s drawn toward a showdown with Johnny’s Cobra Kai dojo and its severe sensei, John Kreese.
