Seven comic vignettes turn questions about human sexuality into sketches that bounce from royal farce to pseudo-scientific absurdity. Woody Allen threads through the film in multiple guises, including a court jester caught up in palace intrigue and a journalist chasing the mystery of the male orgasm. Gene Wilder and Lynn Redgrave are among the faces in a lineup of doctors, kings, queens and TV personalities, as each segment tackles a different subject, from aphrodisiacs to sexual taboos to lab-test anatomy. The structure is loose and episodic, with each question opening onto its own self-contained bit.
