As Benny prepares to drive to Florida with his wife Ruthie, he leaves the family department store in the hands of one son while barely acknowledging the other. Vincent Gardenia's Benny puts Russell in charge, but Alan Arkin is Ezra Fikus, the brother he's gone so far as to disown. Ezra has troubles of his own: he's coaching a high school basketball team that can't win, and at home his wife Marion is pressing to have a baby. Rob Reiner's Russell may have the store keys, but he doesn't get much more respect from his parents than Ezra does.
