Murmur of the Heart
ComedyDrama118 min
In 1950s Dijon, 15-year-old Laurent Chevalier stumbles into adolescence amid bourgeois family routines, Catholic school, jazz, and small acts of rebellion. Benoît Ferreux is Laurent, whose early sexual misadventures and a bout of scarlet fever lead to a diagnosis that sends him to a sanatorium. There, he’s joined by his overattentive mother (Léa Massari), and the already complicated bond between them becomes the film’s center. Around Laurent, brothers, doctors, priests, and dinner-table tensions sketch a household where curiosity and impropriety keep colliding.
