I Killed My Mother

DramaRomance96 min

In suburban Montreal, 17-year-old Hubert is suffocating under the daily friction of life with his single mother, Chantale, even as he stays bound to her in ways he can’t untangle. Xavier Dolan is Hubert, restless and openly resentful, while Anne Dorval’s Chantale meets him with her own impatience, fatigue, and stubborn affection. As Hubert keeps parts of his life to himself, including a relationship with a classmate, the arguments at home spread into school meetings, punishments, and increasingly bitter attempts to break from the woman who raised him.
