Sergey Bodrov is Danila, a Chechen War veteran whose return to Moscow turns into a cross-country vendetta. An old friend tells him that his twin brother has been pressured into a crooked contract with a U.S. hockey team; when that friend is found dead soon after, Danila follows the trail from Russia to Chicago. Viktor Sukhorukov is part of the film’s returning circle as the story shifts from Moscow streets to immigrant neighborhoods, back-room deals, and Danila’s blunt, often dangerous way of settling accounts.
