West Of The Jordan River

Documentary88 min

Amos Gitai returns to the occupied territories for the first time since his 1982 documentary Field Diary, following Israelis and Palestinians trying to overcome the consequences of occupation. Moving between soldiers, human rights activists, journalists, mourning mothers, and Jewish settlers, Gitai traces the uneasy ties binding people across daily political and military realities. Rather than centering official leaders or negotiations, the film stays with citizens acting out of civic responsibility, assembling a close-up portrait of conflict, coexistence, and small acts of intervention where politics has failed to produce an answer.
