Jean-Claude Van Damme is a battered version of himself here: an action star dealing with tax trouble, a custody fight, and the sting of losing a role to Steven Seagal. Back in Brussels to get away from the chaos in the U.S., he stops at a post office just as a robbery turns into a hostage crisis, leaving the hometown celebrity trapped inside and suddenly part of the story. The setup turns Van Damme’s public image into material of its own, mixing a crime standoff with a self-aware portrait of a star whose legend no longer protects him.
