Groundhog Day

ComedyDramaFamilyFantasyRomance101 min

Bill Murray is Phil Connors, a cynical TV weatherman sent to Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, with his producer and cameraman to cover the town’s Groundhog Day festivities. After a blizzard strands the crew, Phil wakes up to the same February morning again and again, forced to navigate the same streets, faces, and mishaps on an endless loop. Andie MacDowell’s Rita brings a steadier counterpoint to Phil’s arrogance, while Chris Elliott’s Larry stays at his side as a smart-mouthed annoyance. Harold Ramis builds the film around small-town ritual, deadpan repetition, and Phil’s growing awareness that the day won’t move on until he does.
