What's Eating Gilbert Grape

DramaRomance118 min

Johnny Depp is Gilbert, a young grocery clerk in the small Iowa town of Endora, where most of his life is taken up by family duty. At home, he looks after his younger brother Arnie (Leonardo DiCaprio), whose impulsive streak keeps him in constant trouble, while their mother rarely leaves the house and the family lives under the town’s stare. Gilbert’s days move between the grocery store, an affair with a married woman, and the demands waiting at home. When a free-spirited traveler named Becky drifts through town, Juliette Lewis brings a new presence into a life that’s long been crowded by obligation.
