After leaving a failed marriage, Charlize Theron’s Josey Aimes returns to her hometown in 1980s northern Minnesota and takes a job in the iron mines, one of the few places a single mother can earn enough to support her children. The work is punishing, the pay matters, and the mine’s culture spills into every part of town as Josey faces harassment from co-workers and pressure to stay quiet. As she pushes back, the conflict reaches beyond the job and into her family, her friendships, and the courts. Frances McDormand and Richard Jenkins round out the close-knit world surrounding her.
