A Night to Remember

ActionAdventureDrama123 min

On the Titanic’s 1912 maiden voyage, second officer Charles Lightoller watches the great liner push ahead despite repeated warnings about ice. Kenneth More is Lightoller, one of the officers trying to keep order as Captain Smith (Laurence Naismith) maintains course and the ship’s confidence in its own safety starts to fray. After the iceberg strike, the film follows crew and passengers through the scramble for lifeboats and the dawning fact that there are not enough of them. With a restrained, almost documentary plainness, this British retelling stays close to shipboard procedure, class divisions, and the confusion aboard the sinking vessel.
