Immortal Beloved
DramaRomance121 min
After Beethoven dies, his secretary Anton Schindler finds three private letters addressed to an “Immortal Beloved” and sets out across the Austrian Empire to learn who received them. His search leads him from one possible woman to another, each encounter opening a different version of Beethoven’s life. As Schindler pieces together the story, the film moves through flashbacks to the composer’s childhood, ambitions, love affairs, and worsening deafness, showing how his drive and volatility shape the people around him. Jeroen Krabbé anchors the investigation, while Gary Oldman’s Beethoven emerges through memory, rumor, and unfinished passion.
