The Bank Dick
Comedy72 min
When a bank robber trips over the bench Egbert Sousé happens to be occupying, the town suddenly hails the local drunk as a hero and hands him a job guarding the bank. W.C. Fields is Egbert, an unemployed barfly in Lompoc, California, whose new respectability lasts only until a smooth-talking promoter lures him into a mining-stock scheme. Trying to make the deal work, Egbert talks bank teller Og Oggilby into lending him bank money with plans to replace it before anyone notices. Then a surprise visit from a bank inspector turns his shaky run of luck into a deeper mess.
