Libeled Lady

ComedyRomance98 min

After a newspaper brands wealthy socialite Connie Allenbury a home-wrecker, she answers with a massive libel suit that leaves editor Warren Haggerty scrambling for a way out. Spencer Tracy is the frazzled newsman at the center of the mess, while Myrna Loy’s Connie refuses to be pushed around. To save the paper, Haggerty pulls his fed-up fiancée Gladys and his friend Bill Chandler into an elaborate setup involving a sham marriage, a staged flirtation, and a plan to disgrace Connie in public. Jean Harlow and William Powell round out the tangle of broken engagements, bad press, and romantic misfires.
