The Motorcycle Diaries

ActionAdventureDrama126 min

Before he became a revolutionary icon, Gael García Bernal is Ernesto Guevara, a medical student who sets out across South America in the early 1950s with his friend Alberto Granado. Rodrigo de la Serna’s Alberto is older, freer, and just as eager to get on the road, as their motorcycle trip carries them through Argentina, Chile, and Peru. What starts as a break before Ernesto’s final semester shifts as the two men encounter miners, Indigenous families, and patients at a leper colony, with poverty, labor exploitation, and Ernesto’s own asthma pressing against the romance of the journey.
