After a mysterious relic arrives at Chicago’s Field Museum, a string of killings pulls Tom Sizemore’s police lieutenant into an uneasy partnership with Penelope Ann Miller, an evolutionary biologist who suspects the attacker isn’t human. As they trace the deaths back to the museum, the case shifts from homicide investigation to creature hunt, with the building’s halls and exhibits becoming the path of something large, fast, and increasingly difficult to explain. Linda Hunt is among the museum staff trying to make sense of what came in with the crate.
