Captain Horatio Hornblower
ActionAdventureDramaFamilyWar117 min
During the Napoleonic Wars, Gregory Peck is Captain Horatio Hornblower, a British naval officer charged with taking HMS Lydia on a perilous Atlantic mission. As the voyage stretches from open sea to Central America, Hornblower and his crew are drawn into combat with a Spanish warship and a rebel force ashore, with every decision carrying military and political consequences. Virginia Mayo's Lady Barbara Wellesley enters Hornblower's orbit along the way, introducing a romantic thread alongside the shipboard command and naval battles. Raoul Walsh stages the story around discipline, duty, and the hazards of war at sea.
