The Sea Hawk
ActionAdventureRomance127 min
Errol Flynn is Geoffrey Thorpe, a pirate raiding Spanish ships in the service of Queen Elizabeth I. When one of his captures brings him Dona Maria, a Spanish noblewoman embodied by Brenda Marshall, the attacks at sea give way to court intrigue, divided loyalties, and a romance tied up with England’s conflict with Spain. The film moves between shipboard assaults, sword fights, and the royal court, where Flora Robson’s Elizabeth I stands over Thorpe’s increasingly dangerous mission.
