Naive Midwesterner JB heads to Venice Beach chasing rock-and-roll greatness, where Jack Black’s wannabe shredder falls in with Kyle Gass’s laid-back KG and the two declare themselves Tenacious D. Their shortcut to legend is a mythical guitar pick said to grant instant musical power, locked inside a rock museum a few hundred miles away. The film turns the band’s invented origin story into a quest packed with songs, slapstick, and supernatural nonsense, as JB and KG hit the road in search of the Pick of Destiny.
