Robin Hood: Men in Tights
ActionAdventureComedyFamilyFantasyMusicalRomance104 min
After returning from the Crusades, Cary Elwes is Robin Hood, who finds King Richard exiled and England under Prince John’s rule, with the Sheriff of Rottingham (Roger Rees) squeezing the country for taxes. Robin gathers a band of outlaws in Sherwood Forest to fight back, while Mel Brooks turns the legend into a stream of slapstick, musical numbers, and fourth-wall jokes. Richard Lewis gives Prince John a frazzled, argumentative streak, and the film keeps taking aim at both the Robin Hood tale itself and the movie versions that came before it.
