In 1876 Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, an undercover detective enters a secret society of Irish coal miners who answer brutal working conditions with sabotage. Richard Harris is McParlan, sent to infiltrate the Molly Maguires from within; Sean Connery's Kehoe stands at the center of the group, balancing pressure from the mine owners with loyalty to the men beside him. Framed by company control, dangerous shafts, and immigrant life in the coal region, the story follows a labor conflict where every alliance carries a cost and every act of resistance invites a crackdown.
