The Matsugane Potshot Affair

ComedyCrimeDrama112 min

A small provincial Japanese town is knocked sideways when two discoveries surface at once: a gold ingot and a severed human head. The search for answers spreads through police stations, side streets, and local gossip, with the case slipping unpredictably between grim violence and dry absurdity. Hirofumi Arai is among the younger faces caught up in the commotion, while Tomokazu Miura and Ken Mitsuishi help fill out the town’s older, watchful ranks. Rather than racing straight through the mystery, the film keeps its attention on the people around it and the uneasy, offbeat rhythms of a place where nothing much happens until something very strange does.
