Volcanologist Harry Dalton (Pierce Brosnan) comes to Dante’s Peak to investigate unsettling tremors around the long-dormant mountain that towers over the town. As his readings point to something far worse than a false alarm, Linda Hamilton’s Mayor Rachel Wando becomes his closest ally in a place still focused on business as usual. What begins with seismographs, town meetings, and mounting warnings gives way to a scramble to evacuate as ash, acid, and lava tear through roads and cut off escape. The film keeps its disaster on a small-town scale, with families, officials, and rescuers all caught in the same widening crisis.
