Driving home for spring break, a brother and sister (Gina Philips and Justin Long) are nearly forced off a deserted highway by a maniac in a beat-up truck. After they spot him dumping what looks like a body down an old sewer pipe, they make the disastrous choice to go back and look. Jonathan Breck is the looming figure at the center of the chase, as the film shifts from open-road banter to isolated back roads, sudden violence, and a supernatural predator waiting in the countryside.
