Bulcsú, a subway ticket inspector who rarely leaves the tunnels, spends his days chasing fare evaders through the gray Budapest metro while a string of deaths on the tracks turns the platforms into crime scenes. Sándor Csányi is the exhausted center of the film, surrounded by fellow inspectors including Zoltán Mucsi and Csaba Pindroch, whose rough camaraderie gives this underground workplace its own strange code. As rumors spread that passengers are being pushed, Bulcsú’s stalled life is interrupted by the possibility of love amid the nightly patrols, station disputes, and races along the rails.
