Shakespeare in Love
ComedyDramaRomance124 min
Young William Shakespeare is broke, blocked, and under pressure to put a new comedy on the stage in Elizabethan London before he has even written it. Joseph Fiennes is Will, juggling rival playhouses, impatient backers, and a script still stuck at “Romeo and Ethel, the Pirate’s Daughter.” Then Viola de Lesseps (Gwyneth Paltrow), a noblewoman with a passion for the theater, slips into auditions in disguise and into Shakespeare’s imagination. Their forbidden affair starts shaping the play itself, as rehearsals, court politics, and the rules of the stage close in around them.
