Reporter Kim Baker leaves a stalled desk job in New York for an assignment in Afghanistan, where the routines of newsroom life give way to military briefings, danger, and a culture she barely understands. Tina Fey is Kim, a war-zone newcomer trying to find her footing as the conflict and the press corps pull her deeper in. Along the way she falls in with Margot Robbie’s hard-charging reporter Tanya Vanderpoel, a stern colonel, and a flirtatious photojournalist who help map out the rules of life on the ground.
