After novelist Thad Beaumont publicly buries the George Stark name he used for his violent books, a string of killings begins to mirror Stark’s fiction — and the evidence points back to Thad. Timothy Hutton is Beaumont, a writer trying to separate himself from the pseudonym that made him famous, while Amy Madigan’s Liz watches his family life get pulled into the case. Written and directed by George A. Romero, the film turns a literary double into a bloody supernatural mystery, with Michael Rooker’s sheriff closing in as the murders spread.
