The Way Back
Drama108 min
Ben Affleck is Jack Cunningham, a onetime high school basketball phenom now working construction and drinking through the collapse of his marriage and former life. When his alma mater asks him to coach its underachieving team, Jack steps back into the gym where his future once seemed mapped out and tries to hold together a group of teenagers while barely managing himself. Al Madrigal and Janina Gavankar fill out the adults around him as the story tracks practices, games, and the harder work waiting off the court: grief, addiction, and the damage Jack has left behind.
