Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison
ActionAdventureDramaWar108 min
During World War II, a shipwrecked U.S. Marine washes up on a Japanese-occupied island in the South Pacific and discovers he is not alone: Deborah Kerr is a Roman Catholic nun who has been left behind there. Robert Mitchum’s Allison and the sister hide in a cave, forage for food, and try to stay out of sight as enemy troops move across the island. Directed by John Huston, the film centers on the tense, intimate space between them — her vows, his rough military bearing, and the practical work of staying alive while they wait for the war around them to shift.
