Little Big Man
ActionAdventureComedyDramaWestern139 min
At 121, Jack Crabb looks back on a life that carried him between the Cheyenne and the white frontier. Dustin Hoffman is Jack, first seen as an orphaned boy adopted by a Cheyenne tribe and later as a drifter, scout, and survivor moving through one upheaval of the 19th-century West after another. Chief Dan George is the tribal elder who becomes Jack’s guide and father figure, even as Jack is pulled back toward settler life and, eventually, into the orbit of General Custer. The story shifts between wry frontier satire and blunt violence as Jack keeps landing on both sides of the American West.
