The Trouble with Harry

ComedyMystery99 min

Harry’s problem is simple: he’s dead, and in a quiet Vermont village several neighbors suspect they may be responsible. Alfred Hitchcock turns that premise into a dry, offbeat tangle of shifting alibis and practical inconveniences, with Edmund Gwenn as retired sea captain Albert Wiles, who was hunting on the hillside where the body is found, and Shirley MacLaine’s Jennifer, Harry’s ex-wife, among the locals pulled into the confusion. As a sheriff starts asking questions and painter Sam Marlowe (John Forsythe) lends a hand, the mystery keeps circling back to the corpse no one quite knows what to do with.
