Visiting reporter John Kelso (John Cusack) arrives in Savannah, Georgia, to cover a society Christmas party and winds up pulled into the murder trial of antiques dealer Jim Williams, a local millionaire played by Kevin Spacey. As Kelso moves deeper into Williams's circle, the city opens up as a maze of old-money rituals, gossip, drag performances, cemetery lore, and whispered talk of voodoo. Clint Eastwood directs the story as a courtroom mystery wrapped in Savannah myth, with Lady Chablis and Irma P. Hall adding to the city’s eccentric social orbit.
