The Good Lie

Drama110 min

After fleeing the Sudanese Civil War and growing up in a Kenyan refugee camp, four young refugees are relocated to the United States, where even ordinary routines feel completely unfamiliar. Reese Witherspoon is Carrie, an employment counselor tasked with helping them find work, housing, and a footing in a new country. At the center is Arnold Oceng’s Mamere, whose sense of responsibility for the others is matched by his guilt over the brother he left behind. Moving between war-displaced childhood and resettlement in America, the film follows culture shock, friendship, and the difficult work of starting over.
