The stories begin with a concrete problem—a machine with impossible effects, a visitor no one can explain, a discovery that rewrites the rules—and then tighten as fear, suspicion, and ambition make the situation harder to control. As an anthology, it changes characters and settings each time, but keeps returning to the moment when curiosity opens a door and no one can predict what enters.
