With a changing group of human companions at his side, he lands in distant futures, vanished pasts, and worlds under threat, usually arriving just as ordinary people are caught in something far larger than they understand. Each stop brings a new crisis: invasions, strange civilizations, and enemies bent on conquest or destruction. As the Doctor pieces together what is happening, he has to outthink danger, protect the vulnerable, and find a way to set events right before an entire planet, culture, or moment in history is lost.
