The Concert
ComedyDrama119 min
Aleksey Guskov is Andrei Filipov, once the celebrated conductor of the Bolshoi and now the man cleaning its halls after Brezhnev destroyed his career for hiring Jewish musicians. When he intercepts an invitation for the orchestra to perform in Paris, Andrei gathers his former players — now scattered, aging, and often drunk — and heads to the Théâtre du Châtelet under false pretenses. The trip is a chance to complete the Tchaikovsky concerto that was interrupted 30 years earlier, with a young violin soloist, played by Mélanie Laurent, at the center of the reunion.
