Good Bye Lenin!
ComedyDramaRomance121 min
In East Berlin in 1989, Alex Kerner watches his fiercely loyal socialist mother fall into a coma just before the Berlin Wall comes down. When Christiane (Katrin Saß) wakes months later, Daniel Brühl is Alex, now scrambling to keep the new Germany hidden from her after doctors warn that another shock could be dangerous. What starts as a son’s protective lie becomes an elaborate effort to preserve a vanished East German reality inside their home. The film folds family tension, political change, and young-adult uncertainty into a story where history keeps pressing in from just outside the apartment.
