Hedwig and the Angry Inch

ComedyDramaMusical95 min

Hedwig, a glam-rock singer raised as a boy in East Berlin, remakes herself in America after a traumatic surgery and takes the stage as an “internationally ignored” diva with her band, the Angry Inch. John Cameron Mitchell’s Hedwig tells her story in clubs, motel rooms, and memory, with songs that trace a life split between countries, identities, and a onetime collaborator who has become a rock star in his own right. Miriam Shor is Yitzhak, Hedwig’s husband and bandmate, as the film moves between backstage confession, punk performance, and flashes of fantasy.
