In a small Indian town, former wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat sees a chance to revive his abandoned dream when his daughters Geeta and Babita show an unexpected gift for the sport. Aamir Khan is Mahavir, training the girls against the grain of family routines and local ideas about what daughters should be doing. With Sakshi Tanwar as their mother, the film follows the Phogat household from rough practice bouts to the wider world of competitive wrestling, centering on a father whose ambition becomes both a burden and an opening for his children.
