The 'Burbs
ComedyMysteryThriller102 min
Ray Peterson wants a lazy vacation in his suburban cul-de-sac, not a neighborhood investigation. But when a secretive family moves in next door, every strange sound, late-night trip, and pile of garbage starts feeding the suspicions he shares with the men on his street. Tom Hanks is Ray, a homeowner who’d rather be reading the paper and watching the game, while Bruce Dern’s Rumsfield brings a militia-man intensity to the block’s amateur sleuthing. Carrie Fisher appears as Ray’s wife, increasingly surrounded by backyard stakeouts and mounting paranoia as the Klopeks become the center of the whole neighborhood’s attention.
