The Curse of the Jade Scorpion

ComedyCrimeMysteryRomance103 min

Veteran insurance investigator C.W. Briggs has built his reputation catching jewel thieves, but a nightclub magician’s hypnosis turns him into one. In 1940s New York, Woody Allen is Briggs, an old-school company ace suddenly mixed up in a string of jewel robberies he doesn’t remember committing. At the office, Helen Hunt’s Betty Ann Fitzgerald has been brought in to reorganize the business, and her constant clashes with Briggs take on a different shape once both are pulled into the hypnotist’s scheme. The setup folds workplace rivalry, stolen gems, and romantic friction into a polished period mystery-comedy.
