The A Word

Drama60 min per episode

In England’s Lake District, a family is thrown off balance when a young boy is identified as being on the autism spectrum. His parents, grandparents, and aunt do not meet the news with one shared plan; each person brings a different mix of denial, worry, guilt, and determination, and everyday life starts to revolve around appointments, arguments, and choices about what help he needs. As they try to understand what his diagnosis means, old tensions inside the family rise to the surface. With Morven Christie and Lee Ingleby among the adults at the center, the series stays close to how one child’s needs reshape every relationship around him.
